Audit:
An Audit is conducted for the purpose of obtaining an independent examination of an organization for functional effectiveness. During this process the organization will be examined using a proven model, that will evaluate the organizational infrastructure and the day-to-day activities as they relate to program, administration and fund raising. It will also, if determined to be a factor or if desired, include a review of the board and all of the managerial relationships.
The audit is done on-site and typically takes two days. At the completion of the audit a report of findings will be issued and distributed to the individuals of choice. Often, it is requested that a follow-up meeting be held by selected parties i.e. Board, Executive Staff etc.
This function has been found to be very positive and productive for organizations who feel they may have hit a plateau, or who are having difficulty moving to the next level or in some rare incidences where there may be tension in the managerial/executive ranks.
Audits of Development, Development Planning and Organizational Development
Development is one of the most vulnerable and complex areas that nonprofit organizations face. This audit would focus solely on the development (fund raising) function of the organization. A thorough evaluation of current methods of generating revenue would take place and a report provided.
A guideline for the generation of a development plan would be a part of this activity as well as suggested organizational staffing and general job descriptions, if found to be needed.
If desired the audit result will be presented to the Board and or others parties
so that the results and subsequent recommendations can be put in perspective.
Board Retreats
Board retreats are an excellent time to re-examine where an organizations is, where it wants to go and to set some goals and objectives for the organization with the input and guidance of a third party.
It is a time to dialogue about philosophies and organizational structure and to establish some short term goals for planning for the future.
The retreats are generally a one day meeting conducted at an off-site, but convenient location, meals are brought in and visual aids are prepared from pre-established goals.
The results of these retreats are a better understanding of the future organizational objectives and a stronger relationship between all parties.
On-going consultation:
On-going consultation permits the CEO/President of an organization or others as specified, to have a relationship with the consultant that continues over a period of time that can involve a variety of subjects, issues and activities. It can cover numerous things from participation in board meetings, staff meetings, development and strategic planning to assisting with budgeting to developing/evaluating various departments for effectiveness.
The time can be spent via phones calls, in meetings, rendezvous business meetings with contractors or fund raising agencies. Often time of interaction is minimal some months and more intense in others.
If desired the audit result will be presented to the Board and or others parties
so that the results and subsequent recommendations can be put in perspective.
Special Projects:
Many CEO encounter tasks that they need some assistance in getting started or accomplishing that are one time projects. Some of these might be new job descriptions, Succession Plans, Development plans, Strategic Plans and others. To add these things to an already busy schedule becomes a major on-taking.
This service becomes invaluable
to the executive and the organizations and many boards are excited about going
to an outside source for assistance in these areas. It avoids re-discovering
what someone has already been through that can save both time and money.
